  • 1.  Create rules/calculations without actually typing in code but via a drag & drop UI

    Hello,

I am working with Planning Analytics and try to figure out possibilities with Workbench.
In software solutions similar to IBM PA, there sometimes is an option to model without actually typing in code but via a graphical UI, where you can drag and drop elements from the model together and create calculations such as "A" + "B" = "C" and store the outcome "C" into a cube to use in reports. Is this possible in IBM PA, maybe via Worksbench? Or if not, what is the most easies way to create (relatively simple) calculations?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Christiaan,
No, it's not possible in PA Workbench, there are rules and TI processes to set up the business logic process to move data between the cubes.
It gives the full flexibility with your solution and requires the learning on how to do it.

In Performance Modeler you were able to do that type of UI formula, but that is limiting you from some options and this product is not avaliable on Cloud.

    Hi Svetlana,
Thank you. I do remember Performance Modeler which indeed offered this capabilities. Alltough I recognize the solution its flexibility offers a lot more capabilities  right now, I think it  would be a strong point to have something available in the current cloud offering, especially to introduce the solution to new contacts that seek intuitiveness and simplicity. Is there something like this on the roadmap?

    Hi Christiaan,
    I agree with your point.
We're working on giving more flexibility to our Guided imports and its wizard.

    Hi Svetlana,

I fully agree with Christiaans idea: our two editors (TI and rules) have to become more "userfriendly".

As already mentioned, we were confronted in PoCs with competitors software where it is much more easy to create business-logic - it would be perfect by drag & drop like in a wizard. Of course the current PAW-editors are already a "milestone" in the TM1-world, but others can do it even better. We still look like a tool that can only be managed by technical persons.

    Best regards
    Steffen
