  • 1.  Correct method to report on explainable spike

    Scenario: Customer has had subcapacity licensing against a hypervisor. They have shut the hypervisor host down for a period of time, which has caused ILMT to count the host at maximum capacity.

    They have turned the host back on, and it is now reporting correctly. They wish to retire the host and underlying VMs, but, wish to leave them as is, preferably with the host off, but with the option to turn back on should they need to.

    My Questions are:

    How to I explain the spike in PVU count for the period that the host was off? Should I generate a report including the period and add a note with the explanation?

    Should they wish to keep the server off and just turn it on periodically when they may need to (still correctly licensed) - what would be the way to do that without having an incorrect PVU count within reports?

    It does appear that the host needs to be replaced and you should report the discrepancy in your report explaining the problem clearly

    as for licenses I need more specifics

    Thanks for your reply. They do not intend to replace host or migrate servers/services. They just with to turn it off but still have the option to turn on if desired while maintaining the current licensing. They do wish to avoid the spike in reports due to the host being unavailable for scanning while off. Not sure if this can be done - if so that would be great, if not, they are just going to leave it on.

    so... to understand the accounting bit - I should generate a report manually with a detailed not about the spike?
