    Hello,

I am new to TSM...Can I use the "copy storage pool" instead of the "replication"? What is the difference?

I think, at the most basic level, replication requires a second TSM server to act as the target replication server. Copy pools operate from the same server as the primary pool.

Both really have the same function, to protect data by having a copy in another location.

More reasonably, is your environment a disk-only environemnt or are you using tape?

Sequential media such as tape are better suited to using copypools. If you have a traditional TSM disk->tape solution copypool is the best fit.

All-disk environments are better suited to using replication.  Replication works best with deduplication and that is only available on file pools and the new container pools.
