In earlier versions of Mercator we would RUN a second map to validate the XML output. I've found with 8.0 that this process is much more time consuming. If you have test case, I suggest sending it to Support. Should work the same. Not sure why you would need to validate the XML, if the output tree was created from a valid XML source. While you are designing the map, you could use the output tree in another map to make sure you have all required fields, but I am not sure why this would be needed in production. How big is the the output file? Have you used the map profiler and paging tools to optimize the maps?
