Converting a shared system WPAR to private system WPAR

We would like to create a new WPAR (WPAR2), which is a private system WPAR. When creating WPAR2 with "-l", it will copy /usr, /opt from the global LPAR which might be problematic because /usr, /opt will be populated with a bunch of stuff which is there due to the WAS install.

How can I create WPAR2 which is created as if it was the first WPAR on the global LPAR? Is there an easy way to create WPAR2 as private system WPAR and then clean it up to bring it back to its "pre-WAS install" state?

I hope I am making some sense, we are trying to get up to speed on WPARs and learning as we go. Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not aware of a way to create WPAR2 without any of the WAS data that is in the Global AIX instance. Couple of things you can try to remove the copied version of WebSphere from WPAR2.

    1) Manual remove the WAS installation. The only thing that won't be cleaned up with the OS Registry that contains information about WAS being installed.

    2) Run the WAS uninstaller within WPAR2.

Sorry for the delay in responding, just saw your reply. And by the way, that's exactly what we did and it worked fine.

Created a private system WPAR, manually uninstalled WAS and installed again. Worked like a charm!

    Thanks for your response.
