    I have had a few users request the property to show the number of pages the PDF document has in it.  I am not finding this as a native feature inside ICN or anywhere in ACCE.  Has anyone out there found a way to have a property to show how many pages a document is?  I read somewhere in my searches that Datacap might be able to create this while scanning as TIFF then converting to PDF which might be an option down the road, but I'd sure like to have this as a feature  for existing documents as well.

    Hi David,

    yes with Datacap you can achieve this.  You can than map this value to a P8 property so the Users can have this information at the document. You can also process already stored documents in P8 with datacap. You can just update the property with the page count.

    All correct as long as you stick to a format that has the concept of a page and you do not use versioning or use other input channels than datacap.

    What is a page in Excel or HTML?

    We have made use of a custom property to hold the page count and an async subscription on checkin to use a good freeware PDF toolkit to determine the page number and set the property....

    The even more popular request is to show the number of documents per folder in a folder list and that is much harder to achieve in a performant way :-(

    Thankfully we have only run into the request for PDF, though I can see TIF coming down the road.  I'll look into the tookit and see what I can find.  I agree with you on the the documents per folder request.  That would be a nice feature as well.
