    You can connect the existing server to existing hmc. However, we ran into problem additing already running server into hmc, because running server not able to get IP address for its ASMI interface, So we did the shutdown and power off of the managed system then did the power on from HMC.

    I read somewhere that, using the front panel switchs, you can force managed system to get the DHCP IP address from hmc, at present I am not able to recall or point the document for that.

    So if you want add running system to hmc.Please prepare for power off and activate managed system from hmc.
