How much important is competitive coding to get a job . As i am a Machine Learning student and i don't have much interests in CP , i want to work on real world problems. So is it necessary to do CP to get a job?

Even aside CP, puzzles are good practice for getting better.

It's not really a must but as long as you have fun and experience, you can grow your technical skills but if you can, CP helps in increasing a programmer's logical ability to write code for challenging situations. 

Big tech companies like IBM,  Microsoft, Google needs hires through CP.

I just feel as long as you keep developing yourself, you'll be fine.
