  • 1.  Compatible with MacOS Big Sur

    Posted Wed February 10, 2021 08:24 PM

    Hi,

I purchased and installed SPSS 26 (november 2020) while using MacOS Catalina. Not knowing SPSS 26 wouldn't work with Big Sur, i updated MacOS to Big Sur.

And now i am not able to analyse my data for my masterthesis.

I downloaded fix. pack 1 and 2. Was able to install fix pack 2, but up till now my macbook won't open and install fix pack 1.

SPSS 26 is still acting strange, though fix pack 2 was installed.

    Please help?

    Thanks in advance

    Christa van Haren

Fix packs are cumulative, so if you have FP2, you also have FP 1. I can't help with "acting strange", though.

    Thanks for your reaction!

    Acting strange means:

I can import data, but I can't change variables (for example number of decimals), I can't calculate a bivariate correlation. The screen stops, selection buttons change color every second and I can't select variables of click on selection buttons. Spss statistics does not what it is supposed to do.

I did update MacOS Big Sur up to the last update. Possibly FixPack 2 doesnt cover that?

    Hi Support Member,

As Support Member  has indicated, Fixpacks are cumulative. If you have installed Statistics 26.0 Fixpack 2 for macOS, then you have the latest release for Statistics 26.0 on macOS. That said, applying Fixpack 2 does not make Statistics 26.0 compatible with macOS 11.x (Big Sur). It merely makes it behave better there.

The supported release of SPSS Statistics for macOS 11.x (Big Sur) is SPSS Statistics 27.0.1. This is a minor release that can be installed over the top of SPSS Statistics 27.0.0 or instead of it.

For details about IBM SPSS Statistics for macOS running on Big Sur, please see this blog:

    https://community.ibm.com/community/user/datascience/blogs/todd-peterson1/2020/11/20/spss-statistics-on-macos-big-sur-110

    I hope this helps!
