Hi Sebastian, additionally to what Elizabeth stated, to avoid confusion on your statement "
they are meant to be used with Linux on LPAR installations only", in LinuxONE you cannot deploy z/OS, z/VSE or z/TPF, but if logical partitioning (LPAR) does not provide the consolidation, utilisation or agility to want for your Linux workloads, you can use/it is supported, and in fact is very common, virtualisation technologies/products like
IBM z/VM or Linux KVM at the LPAR level on LinuxONE (and also IBM Z) and deploy Linux guests on top of it.

Hi Sebastian, the key difference is that LinuxONE is only IFLs, so you can only run Linux on them. Otherwise they can be configured pretty much identically to a z15, depending on what you need.
