Hey Casey, Yes sorry, the new gamification system has a lot of very cool features (like challenging people who are close to you on the leaderboard or the ability for members to give points to each other) but we are having a less than easy time migrating and the points keep sliding up and down. On the plus side, we have a master list from the old system. So no points are officially "lost" they're just displaying funky.
@Brandon Walshin What's the status on getting stable?
Casey - when we are stable, points for Apptio employees might decrease, depending on what you had before. Here's an excerpt of the rules from the Apptio Internal facing community doc (it's long and too boring to post for customers ;-) but if you're looking for some encyclopedic reading, drop me a note and I'll send you a link to the full thing.
In Community 2.0, higher point values will be placed on simple tasks that demonstrate a user is frequently engaging in community conversations. The leveling system will also be re-tiered with a clear line of demarcation for longer-term, frequently active users.
Name | Points | Level |
New Member | 0 | 1 |
Observer | 100 | 2 |
Explorer | 500 | 3 |
Path finder | 1000 | 4 |
TBM Citizen | 2,500 | 5 |
TBM Champion | 5,000 | 6 |
TBM Ambassador | 7,500 | 7 |
TBM Royalty | 12,500 | 8 |
To transition from the old to new points structure, points earned in Community 1.0 will translate to Community 2.0 using the following rules:
- Points carry directly from Community 1.0 over to 2.0 and are associated with the corresponding 2.0 tier for:
- Customers
- Partners
- Apptio Empoyees who have obtained less than 2,500 points
Apptio Employees who’ve obtained 2,500 points or more are reset to the baseline points for TBM Citizen. Further, employees who are required to routinely upload or create content as part of their job function, will not receive points for those routine actions.
These rules are designed to right-size the gamification leaderboard ensuring customers and Apptians are represented and all members have an equal chance to improve their status in the new system.
Also when stable, Brandon will post the full list of points per action but think "slow and steady" it's geared toward rewarding continued participation... a couple of points for every like, around 10 points for commenting, more points if you create something, that sort of thing.
