here we go, the output of the netstat command report some nic cards set up properly with their IP - so no problem here, but there are some nic card not in used and not set up appearing with a "*" and I just cant remove it using ifcongig down , detach, it just keep reappeating.

the thing is even if I remove it from the server using rmdev the problem is the card will reappear via cfmgr so this wont fix my problem.

Dual port card, 1 port used and configured, the second port not in used
    en1* 1500 link#3 0.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx - 0 0 0 0 0
    en3* 1500 link#4 0.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx - 0 0 0 0 0

how do you get rid of those ent* entries from netstat ouptu ?
what commands to run and which order ?

Thanks a lot in advance for whoever can help me here :-)

    Cheers
    Al.

the time it took to write this post would have been better invested in "man netstat".

    That is a normal behaviour.
You should deactivate the Interfaces in the ODM.
    ifconfig works only temporary.

    Look for chdev in AIX.
