Hi All-
I am getting an Out of memory error for one complex report in Cognos when using Google Chrome. This problem has only started recently after one of the Google Chrome browser upgrades. Not sure which one, but one in the last 2 months or so.
I have tried several debugging steps on the Chrome side ranging from clearing cache to deleting chrome profile to closing the application from task manager to only having one window open in Chrome. No matter what I do, what I have observed is that, I get the Out of memory error once the system breaches certain memory on my laptop (please note I have 16 GBs of RAM on my laptop and when I run the report in Chrome, as the report renders, as soon as it crosses 11 GB (70% of available RAM), it throws the out of memory error. No matter what debugging steps I apply, I still get the out of memory error in Google Chrome. Before i open my Chrome browser, my system is by default using about 7 GBs of RAM.
The same cannot be replicated in Mozilla Firefox 91.0 (64-bit).. The chrome version i am using is Version 100.0.4896.127 (Official Build) (64-bit)
My biggest concern is why am i only getting this error in Chrome and not in Firefox.
It seems that memory is rapidly rising when using Chrome vs when using Firefox.
Please advise on what can be done to alleviate this issue. The report itself has not been changed a lot in the last few months so don't know why suddenly the browser has started giving out of memory errors.
