  • 1.  Cognos Recent -> Recently viewed is always blank

    On Cognos 1.1.7. Homepage (recent) and Recent tab -> Recently Viewed screen is always blank. Allegedly it is blank for everyone. Does anyone know why or have any suggestions on how to further investigate? 

    EDIT - ISSUE Resolution: the issue was that the URL used by the clients did not exactly match what was in the cognos configuration dispatcher url. the dispatcher url used a three part servername - server.company.local - where the customer was using just server in their url to access cognos.

    Anyone? What about setting the profile Logging? might something show up? they have tried two different browsers. In fact they reinstalled cognos on a new server and still the recents are always blank. So it is something with the content store, or permissions, roles, groupe, etc. Any ideas?

    Hi Brenda,

    I never had that issue and without knowing your Cognos environment it's hard to predict what's wrong. The recent objects are stored in the user profile somewhere and (luckily) not in browser cookies.

    Did your admins run a Content Store consistency check yet?

    Does anyone know which table in the content store has the list of recent reports (objects) by user? Just curious to look at it.

    Hi Brenda,

    It could be related to your theme. Did you try to launch Cognos with the following URL:

    http://<cognos_server>:9300/bi/?factoryMode=true

    It will disable all the views/extensions just for this test.
