With the likelihood of portal pages being deprecated in the future, I would like to ask what you have done or plan to do to replace them?

Hi Jason, thanks for the question.  We don't currently have any plans of deprecating portal pages, but obviously that's a technology that hasn't really been developed at all for quite a while.  Officially we only support the continued use of existing portal pages and not the creation of new ones.

In terms of options, it depends on what you're doing with them.  If you're using them primarily for different folder and navigation views, then custom tabs on home and content can accomplish a very similar thing. If you're incorporating visualizations as well then IBM Analytics Content Hub may be the best alternative.

    Hi Jason,

we opted for having report collections that share a common menu bar. In principle, that's a horizontal table containing some drill through definitions.

As a side note: please don't mind the red warning. For the hardcopy, I used test data. With current data, it would have looked less conspicuous.
The menu bar is inserted as a layout component reference, so we only need one reference report per report collection. To make things more comfortable, we created a template for new menu bar reports. It contains some CSS and a custom control, just to make the whole thing look a bit smoother, enable drop down menu functionality and the like. The added functionallity is not strictly necessary, of course. Yet, it's easier than it sounds, and it really was fun developing it.
By now, our users don't remember that this menu bar is no standard Cognos functionality. So they accept it without thinking.
