Cognos Analytics Cloud Backup

Hello, I have created some Data Modules and reports in my Cognos Analytics on the Cloud trial.

I will probably buy the subscription but using a different account (currently I'm using a personal account and I want to subscribe with the professional account).

Apparently when the trial finishes all content will be deleted unless a subscription is buyed (on the same account). As I don't plan to subscribe to Cognos Analytics Cloud with my personal account I will lose all the works in this trial version.

Do you know if there is a way to backup the work in the trial version so I can upload it to the subscription version?

    Regards,

    Alex

Hi, Alex. We have the same problem. We have developed a solution in our cloud environment and would like to provide it to a customer.

Currently, to my knowledge, there is no way to do this ourselves. With a lot of luck an IBM support staff can help.

Only for reports it is currently possible to copy the XML specification via the clipboard.

We hope that in one of the next version a deployment in the cloud version is possible.

    Let's Vote for some RFEs -  e.g.

    Hello Jens,

in my case I worked on a Data Module (uploaded Excel files, created relationships, calculated columns, navigation paths). If I go for the subscription service when the trial is finished I will have to perform all this work again :(

I only created a few reports to test and no dashboard.

    Regards,

    Alex

I think, IBM should give Personal Edition with limited data.  It will be better to enable functionality to export deployment via SFTP to avoid loss of work as well for free trial.

SFTP is not necessary from my point of view. Just like the extensions, deployments could be uploaded and downloaded.

@Alex Santamarta You can copy the specification of a report and data module so you don't have to completely re-do all your work.

To copy a data module specification, open the data module and hit ctrl / q on your keyboard. This will bring up the specification window and allow you to copy it. Once that is done paste it into a text editor

For a report- you can open the report in Authoring and select the more option (Top right - "Gear Icon") and select Copy Report to Clipboard. Once that is done paste it into a text editor

Both the data module spec and report specs can be ported to a different environment.

For me Ctrl / q is not working for Dashboards. It is not showing anything as it does for Data Modules.

Make sure you are in Edit mode for the dashboard.

@DENNY NAREZNY, is it possible to copy specification for  sub folder within Module and paste to Target Module since as data Module become large, it takes forever to get specification.

@Buddhi Gupta As far as I know, you can only copy the entire data module spec.

I tried in Edit mode of the Dashboard. It is still not working for me.

I tried in Firefox, Edge, Chrome and Internet Explorer.

    Hi Alex,

I just tested on our trial instance and ctrl / q worked fine for me to bring up the dashboard spec. Feel free to email me so we can further investigate denny.narezny@ca.ibm.com

Hi @DENNY NAREZNY, Whenever I try to edit the spec and save it , I get Page Reload warning and changes are not saved. Is something else need to be done to save spec in new module?  I am using CA 11.1.3 on Cloud.
