  • 1.  Cognos 11.1.7 - Report performance is slow with Interactive Viewer

    Hi Team,
    We are using Cognos Analytics 11.1.7 FP2.
    We integrate Cognos reports within our application, where we construct the URL and execute the report inside an IFRAME of our application. Please note, our reports are transactional reports.

    The URL we construct - we have been using Classic Viewer so far and we started to make use of Cognos 11.1.7 features. hence we started using Interactive viewer.
    With Interactive viewer, the initial loading of report page takes longer time - 6-7 seconds for the first page to appear, while with Classic viewer, the report loading time is around 2-3 seconds. The timing is based on very simple report displaying 20 rows of data. There is no issue with Query.
    Classic viewer URL –
    https://<GATEWAY_URI>/ibmcognos/bi/v1/disp?ui.object=XSSSTART<REPORT_PATH>XSSEND&b_action=cognosViewer&ui.action=run&<PARAMETER_LIST>

    Interactive Viewer URL –
    https://<GATEWAY_URI>/ibmcognos/bi/v1/disp?objRef=<storeId>&b_action=cognosViewer&ui.action=run&<PARAMETER_LIST>

    Using objRef = <storeId>, Cognos decides to render in Interactive or Non Interactive based on setting inside the report.
    Can you please help us on the report performance being slow with Interactive Viewer URL?
    Is there any setting/configuration/property that has to be enabled to make it faster?

    Execution through Classicviewer –
    There are 36 request and total resources downloaded of size 1.8MB in the browser
    Execution through Interactive Viewer –
    There are 232 request and 26MB of resources download to browser, and there are more redirects too in the browser.

    Please let us know if anyone is able to load the report in Interactive viewer within 3-4 seconds after the onclick on report link.

    Hi All,
    Can you please let us know the normal time taken for the report execution through Interactive viewer in your environment?
    The time taken for the report to render data.from the moment user clicks on report name.

    Thanks for the message.
    We have reports pulling data from relational data source through Package.
    We have tried with multiple combination, The time of report execution that I have mentioned above is for a report with only list object retrieving 5 rows of data.

    I've recently experienced issues with reports not rendering.  I primarily use Chrome.  When I switched to using IE and the report rendered quickly.  

    Check your browser settings.
