Hi Anton,
COBOL hit the news lately because a lot of older systems - written in COBOL - have been hit hard by spikes in activity due to Coronavirus. A few good articles on the problem and some resources, if you're interested...
Recent article about the problem...
https://spectrum.ieee.org/tech-talk/computing/software/cobol-programmers-answer-call-unemployment-benefits-systemsFrom last year...there was already a shortage then...
https://ibmsystemsmag.com/IBM-Z/10/2019/closing-cobol-programming-skills-gapSome resources if you're interested...
https://community.ibm.com/community/user/ibmz-and-linuxone/blogs/misty-decker1/2020/04/10/cobol-education-quick-guideAs Anton points out...depends on your goals and interests if you want to spend time to pick it up. I spent much of my early career in COBOL. I wasn't sad to move on to new things. It got kind of boring..at least the problems I was solving with it were kind of boring. I'm sure there are cooler applications now.
But as my college professor said "I'd love to be the last COBOL programmer on Earth." And he said that decades ago! :-)

Why COBOL is trending?
Where can I learn that language?
And, Are there any future scope for COBOL programmers?
