    I recently listened to a webcast on optimizing your WAS environment with cloud and was hoping to find out where this fits when a customer has a full ILMT implementation...Cloud to on-prem security is key, how is this handled?

    It is handled via Secure Gateway (if your cloud provider is BlueMix) or VPN.  So far, as I reviewed secured implementation for all cloud providers ( I tested Digital Ocean and Google), Secure Gateway is much straight forward and clear.
