  • 1.  Clients running below V7 connection to MQ 9.4

    Posted 2 days ago

    Morning,

I am aware that IBM supports backward compatibility and V7 of the client would work with MQ 9.4.

Has anyone tested MQ clients below V7 with MQ 9.4?

    Emile

Haven't tried such an old version for a long time. However, you might find this a useful read as it pulls together a number of thoughts on this.

    MQ Client versioning

I'm not naming names but I currently have a customer running some really, really old releases of both MQ clients (distributed) & queue managers (distributed) connecting to queue managers (distributed & z/OS) running MQ v9.3 & v9.4.  When I say old I mean queue managers running MQ v5.2 & v5.3. MQ clients running with MQ v5.2, v.5.3, v6.0, & v7.0, all (clients & queue managers) are connecting to modern queue managers running v9.3 & v9.4.

So, thumbs up to MQ for being backward compatible for releases that are almost from the last millennium!!! :)

    Regards,

    Roger
