  • 1.  CIV: Problem with tenant hostname resolution

    Posted Thu May 07, 2020 08:18 PM
    Hello,

We are facing a problem with hostname resolution of our CIV tenant by the regional public DNS. We randomly get Unknownhost exception in our application which talks to CIV.

Just at the moment we receive this exception in the application, we opened the command prompt (cmd) on the system and tried to ping the tenant (just to see if its able to resolve it to IP), but it also didn't resolve it and the ping output said unable to find host. This does not happen always and the hostname starts getting resolved after some time (from cmd as well as the application). This mean that sometimes, the public DNS is unable to get an IP against our tenant.

    I have two questions:

    1. Which forum/platform would be the best place to take this up to get resolved?
    2. If we go with the approach to enter the CIV IPs in our local DNS, we would need the IP pool for our tenant. How to get that IP pool?

    Looking forward for support..

    Best regards,

    Hi Jahanzaib,

I would suggest opening a ticket with IBM CI Support in order to try and get help with this.

    Regards,

    Vernon.

    Hi Vernon,

I have already opened a ticket but unable to get the answers. For the questions accordingly, they say that the public DNS issue is outside their scope and the IP subrange is also something they do not control.

So, we don't seem to get any direction further with this.
