  • 1.  Channel Retrying events

    Posted Thu July 09, 2020 03:56 PM
    Hello all,

According to https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSFKSJ_9.0.0/com.ibm.mq.ref.doc/q049800_.htm, channel event MQRQ_CHANNEL_STOPPED_RETRY is generated when "Channel has been closed and it is in retry state."

    I have qmgr CHLEV(EXCEPTION) configured.

Under what conditions is this channel event generated?

I do not see an event being generated when my channel goes to Retrying state, I only see a Channel_Stopped_By_User event when I later stopped the channel manually.
Event Type                       : Channel Event [46]
Reason                           : Channel Stopped By User [2279]
    Event created                    : 2020/07/09 16:23:26.45 GMT
Reason Qualifier               : Channel Stopped Disabled

What am I really looking for?  The combination of events and settings that will only inform me of
    • Channel Starts
    • channel goes into Retrying state
    • channel stopped by user
I don't need to be notified of normal stops, like for a DISCINT expired, as they are normal and do not require any attention.

    Thanks,
    David

I have tried this out and would say that RETRY events do not appear to be being generated when I would expect them to be either. I went back to V7.5 and also did not get any. I would suggest you should report this to IBM by opening a case.

    Cheers,
    Morag
