In spss 26 I could mark a few columns in data view and change their witdh simultaneously.

In spss 27 it only changes 1 column at a time - and worse than that - it doesn't save the width:

After I change a column's width in data view, when I switch to variable view and then come back to data view - the columns go back to their previous witdh.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I am able to reproduce the two behaviors you have reported:

1) Cannot resize multiple selected columns at once in the Data Editor: Data View.

2) Once resized, any manipulation of the resized fields in the Data Editor: Variable View causes these fields to revert to default upon switching back to the Data View.

I could replicate this on Statisics 27.0.1 for Windows only. Statistics 27.0.1 for macOS behaved as you expected. I've also tested a recent build of the next release and the behavior is correct again on Windows for that release.

Your long term workaround should be to update to the next release when it is available (this is targeted for release within the next month). This is a free upgrade for active Support customers.

In the short term, the workaround will be to control the Display Width of your desired fields by setting the "Columns" property in the Data Editor: Variable View, rather than manually resizing these columns in the Data View.
