  • 1.  Can't license IDS version from FixCentral?

    Hi All,

    My dev machine is windows.

    I had to reinstall my local informix instance from scratch so thought I'd put the latest available on, in this case 14.10.FC13 from fix central (I can't do v15 due incompatibilities with production running v14).


    We are licensed for Workgroup Edition unfortunately there is no license file (we_edition.jar) in fix central for FC13, without it I end up with developer edition. There is no license file in passport advantage for it either.
    In passport advantage the latest license file available - Informix Workgroup Edition License Installer 14.10.FC11 (M0J8WEN) - is for FC11, so I thought I'll install that and then inplace upgrade to FC13 hoping that would give me WE for FC13 --> didn't work, at FC11 it showed WE but after FC13 was back to DE.

    Does anyone know how I can license 14.10.FC13 without the jar file being available?

    Hi Bryce,

    You'll need to open a ticket with IBM to get the license file for FC13 that you are entitled to.  I have run into the same problem - no license file for 14.10.FC13 (Linux) in Passport Advantage or FixCentral.  I'm waiting to hear back on the ticket created.

    Now that you have FC13 installed, have you tried running the FC11 edition installer, after setting $INFORMIXDIR to the correct value?  It shouldn't work...but you never know!

    I had tried the fc11 edition installer after i had installed fc13 but it didn't change the license either.

    The FC12 is just installed had the EE jar in the bundle - or maybe I am going (more) senile

    Interesting Paul, prompted me to go look at Fix Central again but not limit myself to Windows as the platform. I see FC12 has a license installer bundle for ALL covering the different editions, including workgroup, but nothing for FC13. I guess with practise one gets use to navigating the nuances of fix central but I visit rarely. I would have thought something that covered 'ALL' would also have shown up under the individual platforms filter including windows since it is for all platforms, but what do i know about web design or logic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Hi Bryce,

    Please keep in mind that in addition to the issue related to Edition License Installer 14.10.FC13, there is another issue.
    I have opened a ticket with IBM:

    TS021053477: "In dbaccess "menu" interface - keys (like arrow keys,Ctrl+C, Esc) aren't working in Informix 14.10.FC12W12 on Windows."

    The problem also exists in version 14.10.FC13 which is actually 14.10.FC13W1.
    Once the defect is fixed they will inform. May be in 14.10.FC13W2.
    This is for Windows only in versions 14.10.FC12W12 and 14.10.FC13.
    There is no problem with 14.10.FC12W5.
