Can I use stepwise AIC in generalized lineal models?

Recently, my supervisor has expressed an interest in utilizing the Generalized Linear Models (GLM) option in SPSS to perform a stepwise AIC (Akaike Information Criterion) analysis. The goal is to obtain a comprehensive table showcasing the goodness of fit at each step of the process.

I understand that this might not be a straightforward task due to the complexity of the statistical methods involved, but I wanted to reach out to the community to see if anyone has experience or insights about achieving this particular analysis using the (GLM) option.

If you could share any thoughts, suggestions, or possible alternatives, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm aware that some statistical procedures can be intricate, so I'm keen on confirming whether this approach is indeed feasible in SPSS before delving too deeply into it.

Looking forward to hearing from you all. Thanks in advance for your help!
