This is a request for any one who uses Flexara as a SAM tool & has a direct integration in to Apptio!!

It would be amazing to get your advice on how you’ve set up your integration & how it’s currebtly working!

Thanks Ken, yes I have seen the integration guide. However, this looks like a manual upload of data in to Apptio, I'm wondering if any other Apptio & Flexera customers are using APIs or DataLink as automatic feeds. 

We do our best to complete the picture with an automation solution when we research the integration guides. In this case, we had to stop short for a few reasons:

• Flexera does not have a REST API. They tell us they're working on one so we'll keep an eye out for that next year.
• Flexera has a SOAP API but it requires a version of SOAP that our connector currently does not support. We have a ticket for that but I'll be honest, it may be difficult to get to for several months due to other DataLink priorities.
• Sometimes scheduling a report to run to deposit a file somewhere which DL can pick up can form a 2-step solution, but that doesn't seem to be a capability of their reporting engine at this time. If someone could reliably run the report, it would be possible to automate the pickup with DL if that helps.

Threads like this give us an indication of the interest of getting an automated solution built, so please continue to chime in. At this point, my inclination is to invest in completing the solution based on REST, which seems to be the more common protocol for SaaS integrations.

Understood. I am shooting for Q2 for the SOAP support but it's too soon to make that a commitment.

@Ken Haniu - is there an update on this thread re: Flexera and connectivity into Apptio via datalink?

Unfortunately, the situation has not changed and the file-based approach described in the integration guide is the only known approach. I welcome any stories from the other customers on this thread who may have tried alternatives.
