We're trying to migrate notebooks from one instance of CA Jupyter 11.2.4 server to another.

Export works ok, but import into other instance fails with 'filetype not supported'

There are two ways to transfer notebook content form one CA instance to another (i.e. import/export notebooks from/to your CA content):

1. User level approach (download/upload notebook .ipynb files)

• download of a single notebook from Cognos content (from the action menu in the content browser for the respective notebook - but it sounds like this part is working for you)
• upload a single notebook into a Cognos Analytic instance. There are actually three different ways to do this action that are described here

Note: the downloaded/uploaded notebook file will have an extension type of ".ipynb". Alternatively, if you have multiple notebook files to upload, you can zip them into a ".zip" file, and upload the resultant ".zip" file.

2. Administrator level approach (through deployments):

• On the source CA instance, create a deployment with the specific folder(s) containing the notebook(s) (and optionally other content like reports, dashboards or data modules) 
• On the target CA instance: copy the deployment file to the target CA system and  import the deployment file (this will recreate the contained artifacts - e.g. your notebook(s) -  in the content of this target CA instance)

To use this approach you will need admin capabilities in CA AND access to copy the deployment file into your target CA instance.

From your description/image, I believe you are having troubles with the first (user level) approach. Are you able to avoid this by using the second (administrator level) approach? 

I don't currently have access to a CA 11.2.4 instance (with "IBM Cognos Analytics for Jupyter Notebook" configured), to try this out to see if I get the same error. Some questions to help trying to isolate the issue you are hitting:

• Are you able to upload the .ipynb file onto the source CA instance (or do you get the same error?) 
• Are you able to create/run a new notebook from scratch on the target CA instance? (If not, there may be some outstanding Jupyter configuration required on the target CA)
• Do you get the same error trying to upload the notebook file in all three places in the CA UI? 
• If you zip your notebook file, are you able to upload the resultant ".zip" file?
• What schema version are your .ipynb files? According to this document, CA will reject uploaded notebook files that don't match version 3 or version 4  schemas.
