  • 1.  CA 11.1.1 - Portal - Slow response

    Hi,

    My New CA 11.1.1 portal run successful but the pages are refreshing slow compared to 10.2 (current production )

    Initial portal load  or Opening Studios (Powerplay / Anlaysis) taking time. I notice once loaded Analysis Studio is fast than Powerplay.

    Please suggest.

    Update:

    Tried accessing the portal using Dispatcher URI (Instead of Gateway URI) and it is much better. So i guess the problem might be with Web Layer (IIS). Please suggest.

    It sounds like you are running dispatcher and gateway on same windows system?  If so, I would NEVER recommend this architecture in a PROD environment - dedicate another system for Web Server (gateway) and work with the admin to tune this, using a load-balancer if necessary and dedicate a high-performance node for your main Cognos dispatcher.

    • Gateway Server(Primary)
    • Gateway Server(Standby)
    • Application Server (Primary)
    • Application Server (Standby)
    • Database
    • Transformer / FM Box

    Hi Krishna,

    It sounds like you have a solid architecture at a high level.  I will say that going from 10.2 to 11.0 showed us that significant additional resources (RAM and Compute) were required to experience equivalent response.  11.1 is even more resource-intensive.

    Do you mind sharing the specs of your hardware components?  Even content manager layer would need additional resources. 

    A small amount of latency at either layer can be multiplied across the environment, so unless the gateway is not important, I assume directly accessing the dispatcher is not a viable configuration option, right?

    Hi Krishna. What database are you using for the Content Store? If SQL Server you should search for "cognos analytics sql server 2014 compatibility". 

    Albeit the fact that your perf is better vs the dispatcher probably negates this.
