  • 1.  Bulk Enrollment Tool Distribution to Many Windows Desktops

    We're getting started with MaaS to replace our old MDM service but we've hit a roadblock pretty quickly...we have several hundred desktops and laptops that need to be enrolled.

    I've looked at Bulk Enrollment but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of guidance on how to distribute the Bulk Enrollment exe en masse to large numbers of devices

    I spoke with IBM Support but I didn't quite get what I'd hoped for: the suggestion was either to use GPO's to distro the enrollment app or to do it manually which isn't ideal

    I'm hoping you guys might have some ideas or been in similar situations and point me in the right direction?

    Thanks for the reply

    I've got as far as creating the bulk provisioning EXE that needs to be distributed to the target machines

    But the problem I have is that I'm a bit stuck on how to distribute that EXE. 
    Since we're starting from scratch and looking to use MaaS to manage our infrastructure, we don't currently have anything in place that we can use to manage the desktops or distribute the Bulk Provisioning Tool EXE

    I was wondering if anyone else has run into this issue and how they got around it or if anyone has any suggestions on how I can get this distributed other than logging onto each of the 200+ desktops, downloading and then running the Provisioning Tool

    Hi David
    Do the devices have access to a shared folder before enrolling? 
    Could you send out a link to an internal file share and use that for users to start the process by downloading the file? 
    If not pushing via AD GPO then maybe you could send the link internally via email - just explaining that the file should be downloaded but not run until further instructions are given. 
    While stating the obvious it would be a good idea to test this on a few devices before pushing out to everyone.

    Hi Eamonn,

    Thanks for the reply - yea, those devices will have network access prior to enrolling. This is existing infrastructure that's already in use, we're now enrolling it in MaaS

    I like the ideas so will give them a go and let you guys know how that goes in case someone else has a similar question :)
