Broken display in Cognos Administration with Cognos Analytics v11.2.2

    Hi,

    With Cognos Analytics v11.2.2, I have a system administrator (Admin1) who cannot display the Cognos Administration properly.
    It looks like there is no image, no CSS and it is useless.

    I have another system administrator (Admin2) and it is working fine for him.

    When Admin2 is loggued from Admin1's PC, it is working fine (same brower), he is able to use Cognos Administration.
    When Admin1 is loggued from Admin2's PC, it is NOT working (same brower again), Cognos Administration is useless.

    Admin1 is a very old profile coming from Cognos BI v10.2.x. I assume this might be the problem.

    Do you have any idea about this issue or how to troubleshoot it?

    Try having Admin 1 open this URL:

    <SERVER>/bi/v1/disp?b_action=xts.run&m=portal/preferences/general.xts&m_class=account&m_obj=~

    and have him reset his style setting. I'm betting that it's referencing a style that no longer exists.

    As usual (and thank you), you are probably right. I've a screen shot for Cognos BI v10.2.x and there is a customized style for this user.

    I was checking with Cmtools (but it is more difficult with the following because your need to compare with the storeID("xxxxx")! ):

    I'm going to take the opportunity to point out that the premium version of CogBox would make this part so much easier:


    If fixing the style doesn't solve it though, we can look at the full properties for both admin accounts and see if we can find any other differences. I'll send you some JS to pull the data through the browser.

    Hi, I'm sorry but I don't quite understand the use case.

    When you refer to Cognos Administration, are you referring to the C10 Administration console or the newer C11 Adminstration area.

    I assume the following use case is also true?

    When Admin1 is logged from Admin2's PC, it is NOT working (same browser again), Cognos Administration is useless. 
    When Admin2 is logged from Admin1's PC, it is working fine (same browser), he is able to use Cognos Administration.

    Have you tried clearing the browser cache on Admin2's PC?

    If that does not resolve the issue... via the browser debug console, are you seeing any. javascript or network errors?

    Hi, Great! Although this sounds more like a "work around" rather than a fix.

    Ideally, the incumbent style would either work... or would automagically be migrated to a working one.

    Hopefully, not a significant impact for the masses. :)

    I could probably create a tool that looks for users with invalid style settings, but it would be so incredibly niche that I don't think it's worth it. I feel like this is one of those cases where nobody runs into it until some poor admin ten years from now goes nuts after an upgrade and finds this is the only reference to it.
