Binary Regression - Not a option in SPSS 29

    Hello, I need some help I just purchased SPSS 29 and I don't have an option for binary regression. I have selected analyze then regression analysis and it not listed.

    Hi @Larry Holman,

    Are you looking for the menus that produce LOGISTIC REGRESSION command syntax?
    This feature is not included with the IBM SPSS Statistics or IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription Base Edition.

    • It is available for Statistics in the "Statistics Standard Edition" or with the "Regression" Add-On module.
    • It is available for Statistics Subscription in the "Custom Tables and Advanced Statistics" Add-On bundle.

    I'm also having this issue with 29. I use the on-prem version and have both tables and advanced statistics ad ons.

    LOGISTIC REGRESSION is included in the Standard Edition and the Regression Option.  You can run SHOW LIC to see exactly what you are licensed for.

    Ah. Thank you. I have Base edition with advanced statistics, data prep, bootstrapping and custom tables. Wow, so many complexities to even knowing what packages are needed. No wonder so many people like using R.

    The modules you list are all included in the IBM SPSS Statistics Standard Edition, as is the Regression module.

    It may be that purchasing the IBM SPSS Statistics Standard Edition is a better fit for you than purchasing and upgrading the Base Edition.

    Hi Mr Holman,

    I have the identical problem with my IBM SPSS Statistic Subscription purchase. Was there a way you were able to download version 28 without having to pay for a brand new subscription? I'm also not sure why purchasing the "Standard Edition" but as a subscription prohibits me from using the binomial regression function, but not linear or ordinal....

    I appreciate your post. Anyone else, please feel free to comment. Very frustrating situation...

    Hi @Elizabeth Blears,

    The functionality in IBM SPS Statistics is organized in modules.  The Binary Logistic Regression procedure is part of the IBM SPSS Regression module.

    These modules have been bundled into the separate "Editions" -> Base, Standard, Professional, and Premium.

      For IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription, the functionality is organized into the Base and three (3) add-on packages -> Custom Tables and Advanced Statistics,  Forecasting and Decision Trees, Complex Sampling and Testing.

    To enable the Binary Logistic Regression procedure in IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription, you would need the Base plus the Custom Tables and Advanced Statistics add-on.

    I believe I already purchased the "custom tables and advanced statistics". I can send my subscription #. Do you know why it wouldn't be working? If I have to buy anything additional, how do I troubleshoot installing and using it to synchronize with the current SPSS I have?

    If you've purchased both the Statistics Subscription Base and the Add-On: Custom Tables and Advanced Statistics, it may be that you have not yet 'enabled' yourself for the latter.  Take a look at the documentation - https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/spss-statistics/beta?topic=overview-managing-spss-statistics-subscription-early-access
