Hi everyone, happy Tuesday. I wanted to fill you in on the latest release for Apptio BI, which adds the ability to display net or percent variance when comparing
Cloudability and Cost Transparency data across two date ranges. As a report editor in Apptio BI, you need to be able to customize the way charts and tables appear on a report, as it allows you to help focus viewers attention on specific areas or maintain corporate standards. Cloudability already supports the ability to allow users to pick whether they can see the net value or percentage value of variance when comparing two dates, and now Apptio BI supports this as well.
When creating a new visualization and using a CT or Cloudability data source, leverage the custom date range comparison feature in your window (using "
Compare" in your custom date range window), and select a KPI or table visual to display your data. In your
Options tab, you can now select
Display Change as to be Net or Percent, and can select the color coding (red and green) for the up and down arrows on your visualization with
Comparison Arrow. In addition to this release, BI users can now set decimal precision for metrics and includes a formatting enhancement for variance values in tables. When adding a Metric to a visualization, a dropdown now appears to help you specify the number of decimal places you would like to see displayed. You can set the decimal places to 0, 1, or 2. To specify the decimal places, click the
down arrowhead, and select the applicable value from the dropdown. All metrics and comparison values display two decimal places by default. You can set the
Shorten Metrics and
Shorten Comparison toggle switches on the
Options tab to use short number formats for these values.
