    what might be the reasons for a Application server fails during starup

    Lots of possible reasons

    Most commonly the reasons are that there is something else listening on one of the ports - and a check of the serverindex.xml file can help identify the possible port conflicts, or there may be something invalid in the profile XML configuration.

    Look at the logs for the server concerned (i.e. SystemOut, etc) and see what that says. It is usually pretty helpful.
