    So I recompiled Apache and PHP from the latest source code.
    In the end this was not too hard once you have the right pre-reqs and the GNU GCC C compiler v4.

    I recorded all the instructions to do this at the AIX 5L Wiki web site at: http://www-941.ibm.com/collaboration/wiki/display/WikiPtype/aixopen
