not true, i run ansible 2.7 with every possible aix* specific module without any problem. even 2.6 was useable without any hiccup. besides this, it is not the best idea to run the ansible controller on aix, i would recommend linux (ppc64le).

the main drawback is that awx/tower is not available for aix. ansible is nice and all, but if one want to use it in a bigger fashion it gets vast very quickly without tower.

AIX working group continues to add AIX enhancements to ansible: https://github.com/ansible/community/wiki/AIX

however aix yum still ships 2.7

Please update AIX repository to the latest revision Ansible 2.8 and add a periodic refresh like you have for other popular packages.

We are working on Ansible 2.8.4 and planning to deliver in Jan 2020.

As python2 is going out of support we are moving to python3 and all the python modules needed for Ansible will be moved for python3.

This is quite good amount of work hence it is taking time.
