  • 1.  Android Enterprise transition for GSuite Users

    Posted 03/19/21 10:15 AM

    Hello,

With Android Enterprise being now an unavoidable reality, is the transition for MaaS360 customers that are also GSuite users more complex ? what are the key points to consider or watch out for to make sure the transition goes well.
If there are GSuite users that already walked that path, it will be great to hear some lessons learned.

    Hi Javier,

The biggest item I would take in to consideration for anyone jumping in would be whether or not to use the G Suite bind for deployment.  There are many great reasons to use G Suite integration for Android Enterprise, but it is not required, even for G Suite clients.  In fact, the Gmail account bind is recommended by Google in most situations due to the flexibility.   Some items to ponder:

Will every device enrolled belong to a user that exists in G Suite?

What kind of access levels are needed on the device?  Will they need the full Play store experience or will it be limited?

Is the full range of Google app access required or are only a few apps being leveraged?

Will there be scenarios where a single "user" will enroll more than 10-15 devices?

I highly recommend that they test thoroughly before deploying.  There are capabilities around ripping-and-replacing the setup if need be, but it's a far more complex and impactful task to undertake if devices are already deployed with AE.
