Hello Declan,
Thanks for your answer.
However, I think, there is some misunderstanding.
My question is:
is it possible to define with your MDX-expression that you want to see the elements with a special alias attributes?
For now, your result with MDX is always the list of elements that depends on the filtering and if you save your set with an alias activated or not activated, so you see the elements with their system name or with Alias.
What you can also do, is to filter the values for a special attribute, like ....attribute = special value or attribute <> '', in short.
However, you dont have the possibilty to define within the MDX itself if you like to see it with or with no Alias.
So maybe the question for @STUART KING or @Hubert Heijkers, is there sth in the pipeline to extend the possibilities for MDX.
You might have all the details you need, so maybe only small puzzle is missing at the code at the backend.
What we also need is to export the set with a special alias, with no workarounds.
It is clear that you can define your attributes with special variables and then combine it with your expression, however, it would be "easier" or more directly to do it with one mdx where you define, what you want to see and to export it.
With best regards,
Vitalij

I'm not sure I have fully understood the issue but if its just trying to avoid the users having to often select an alias, the easiest method would be to always have a "Default" subset which has the alias selected (you can also have default views for the cubes) so whenever a new cube etc is opened the default subset would be selected with the alias on (the only time it wouldn't be is if they opened a view that had a different non-alias subset selected for it.)
The majority of dimensions tend to be built with just a system code as the actual element name; so its fairly common to always have default subsets with a friendlier alias defined.

Subject: Alias selection with MDX for set editor and View mdx
Hello,
If I see it correctly now, if you want to see the alias for your set editor and also the view, you have to switch the alias on or off manually and then save the set, which you can later use also for your view.
You can also filter for some attributes, like if there are some values or not, however, you dont see the alias-values for this, as long as you not switched on the alias, yes?
Is it possible or is it on the road map to get this feature later in combination with the MDX or any other automatic way, without to do it manually?
What or how is your experience for this?
Thanks in advance.
With best regards,
Vitalij
