    You have to do either a:
    1) overwrite install
    2) preservation installation
    3) migration installation

    from either product media (DVD/CD) or a NIM server.

    Once you have AIX 6.1 you can setup NIM server supporting remote AIX 6.1 installations.

    As far as I remember, a NIM server supports spots for older AIX'es but not for newer then NIM master server is.

    a. Attached the .iso files as virtual CD's to the LPARs
    b. Booted in SMS mode (selected install/boot options)
    c. choose install from 1st CD
    d. Choose options to make sure it setup as migration
    e. The fileset requirement errors didn't show up - the installation was smooth
