My client has an application that can run on either AIX 5.1 or 5.2. It requires 20G of memory in the LPAR and will run on a newly installed p670 that has 32G of memory. What key message to provide my client to use AIX 5.2?
    A. AIX 5.1 cannot take advantage of Small Real Mode Address Regions.
    B. AIX 5.1 does not support memory greater than 16G in an LPAR.
    C. AIX 5.2 can support Micro-Partitioning while AIX 5.1 cannot.
    D. AIX 5.2 provides 60% better performance for the same workload than AIX 5.1.

    D. AIX 5.2 (+latest ML) supports Dynamic LPAR (allocation/deallocation of resources without rebooting)
    E. AIX 5.1 goes out of support on April 1, 2006

Regardless, you'll be far more effective knowing where to find the answers than someone just giving it to you.

For my $.02 the key differences between AIX 5L V5.1 and V5.2

    1) AIX 5L V5.2 supports dynamic LPAR operations (AIX 5.1 must be rebooted to move resources)
    2) AIX 5L V5.2 supports JFS2 filesystems to 16TB (vs 1 Tbyte for AIX 5L 5.1)
    3) AIX 5L V5.1 is nearing the end of it's service life - 5.1 was withdrawn from marketing April 2005
B.T.W. AIX 5.2 does NOT support MicroPartitioning - AIX 5L V5.3 is required for MicroPartitioning
