We are replacing DS3524 storage with a DELL SCv3020. There are two VIO servers serving vscsi disks to several virtual AIX servers that boot from the SAN. Just hoping that it's not necessary to provision 2 new VIOS. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. DELL support has not migration tools available nor does IBM.

How do you present your disks to the servers (lpars)... NPIV or shared storage pools?
In either case, you should be able to present a new DELL disk and do a migratepv
That solution will work for our data disks. Disks are vscsi not NPIV. Dell requires a software suite be installed on the VIOS and has advised that only local boot disks can be migrated (migratepv) to an SC series boot volume. We are booting clients from the SAN. (Note the native AIX bootlist command is replaced with dellsc_bootlist which specifies paths to the boot disk and not the hdisk itself.)
Have been informed that support/certification for AIX starts at the SC 4000 level and not the 3000 level of storage.
