    I took a look this morning at who our active users are and what persona they come from.   While I wasn't surprised it did make me wonder whether this is a typical distribution for larger organizations.  

     

    3%   -  Executive Management

    27% -  Middle Management 

    70% -  Staff

     

    This is based upon unique users who have accessed Apptio within the last 90 days which was just under 100 people.  

     

    Does anybody have a wildly different distribution and is that just the way it happened or was it the result of a conscious effort to achieve that mix ?

    Ours is about the same.  Even though we send a month-end email alerting folks that the reports are updated, the VP reps (staff level) review and print (or send PDF) to their VP/management, so that's probably why it's on the low side for us.  Usually the higher ups want something sent to them directly (PDF) vs going to a site and clicking.

    Ours is a little bit different. We have 20% upper middle management and 80% lower middle management (service delivery responsible but no staff). I think this is due to where we are in the implementation.

    Although we have a great support from management, we have no specific management reports - or at least not promoted them.

    Those who are looking now are more tech and infrastructure people, but as I mentioned, this is more a result of the phase we are in and have focused on. 

     

    It was an interesting point of view, and I will follow how this will shift as we are moving forward in the implementation.

    Our mix is reflective of the fact that most of our go to reports are very dense and cater to the people who want to follow a dollar on every step of its journey from cost source to bill payer.  They in turn wind up exporting volumes of data and creating their own management views of it.  Not ideal but its where we are.  Our goal over time would be to drive greater adoption of management reports within the tool itself which hopefully would lead to a different mix.
