I only need to activate the A-TAP on a specific database on a server but there are multiple databases on the server. Does anyone know if all the databases on a server need to be shutdown or just the specific database?
    Thank you.

ATAP integrates with DB engine binaries so if your databases based on this same instance you have to shutdown everything.

    Hi Ann,
I'm not sure I've ever had to do that before, but here's my supposition. The ATAP activation replaces the running database process (binary) with the Guardium "version", so if the other databases use that same binary then they'll need to be shut down. If they are using a different instance or binary then you would probably be safe to leave them up.

Like I said, just my supposition.

As previously stated, all databases using the same Oracle home (binaries) are affected. Where it gets interesting is on Exadata servers. Not only do all of the nodes in the same cluster need to come down simultaneously, but the clusterware needs to be shutdown too. That means that all databases on all nodes in the cluster must be down.
