I've always discouraged our developers from using any type of trace in production, but some of our systems used the -TRACEV command on the email adapter. We found out from Ascential Support that there is a limit on the size of the email trace file (32k). Therefore if you used -TRACEV or -TV and you had a large email input or output, it would cause the event server to hang. And when I say hang, I do mean hang. Nothing would work. Systems would start but they would not finish and everything came to a complete stand still. The only option was to bounce the service. Now we have removed all of the "verbose" options from all applications and it seems to have fixed the situation. Just wish we would have had a heads up from Ascential regarding this.
