Folks, 

For futures planning, I was wondering if any of you are still using 32-bit Windows or Linux OS's?   And if you still are, how long do you anticipate this being the case?

Hi Mark,

On our 140 workstations less than a handfull are still using 32 bit OS's.

For the RBD devs we still install the 32 bit version of RBD on top of the 64bit os because we had issues selecting the XULRunner (firefox renderer) in the Rui preview

pane of  the 64-bit version.

Do you know if there are still issues with XULRunner in the latest RBD version?

In order to support XulRunner on the 64-bit version of Windows, we need to upgrade our level of Eclipse.  The 64-bit XULRunner was not available until Eclipse 4.3 and RBD 9.1.1 is still based on Eclipse 4.2.2.  And Eclipse upgrade is one of the currency items we are looking for in the future.

No 32-bit OS's around here -- at least not in the hands of developers with RBD. A 64-bit OS expectation seems legit to me.

I've  asked  3 RBD customers to  know they all use 64-bit  Windows OS ( default ).  

For VAGen/RBD  coexistent customer( still in migration journey  ) , they still run on Windows XP, is there any potential issue ?

On the VAGen/RBD, I don't believe there is any potential conflict assuming some day they will be out of that scenario (i.e. all RBD).  The question is related to whether we continue to support/test in future releases.   IF we decided to only support 64bit in future releases, the existing releases such as RBD 9.1.1 will continue to support 32-bit.

Hi Mark,

I am make a migration project in VisualAge to EGL and using RBD v9.1 and it does not support XP, yes !?  The prerequisite does not mention XP support.  Then I have make the migration in two machine. 

In XP machine I have installed RBD v8.5 to migrate VA into DB2.

in Win 7 I have installed RBD v9.1 to retrieve DB2 with EGL migrated.

I do not know how long this will be sustained if the VA customers slow to migrate to EGL.

We still have customers using CSP, VisualGen and VisualAge.

Question:  RDB v9.1 support or not support XP ?

RBD 9.1 does not state it supports Win XP as Win XP was out of support when we tested RBD 9.1.    So, we did not test it nor claim support.

That said, as long as you use the 32 bit version of RBD 9.1, then I am guessing it will work.    You would just have to try.  But keep in mind, if any issues arise that are related to the usage of RBD specifically on Win XP, then you would not be able to open a PMR on it unless you can also recreate the same problem on Win 7 or other supported environment.
