currently on 3.5.0. Looking for a smooth, easy upgrade to 4.0,  The upgrade from 3.0.1 to 3.5.0 was a big challenge that took several days

Any thoughts on what might make that process easier for you, Tom?

also, we ran into other minor issues during the upgrade, one of them was the DB2WH upgrade with a Portworx storage. We had to bring Portworx support engineer to address. That took several hours. It was related to the way DB2WH was configured in prior release 3.01

In general it seems more testing and validation of install/upgrade process is needed along with performance work in this space.

    Hi

To me, these are the basic -
    • Easy to Install - The greatest software is useless if it cannot be installed.
    • Easy to upgrade - The next greatest release is useless if it cannot be upgraded.
To enterprise, these are the basic -
    • Easy Backup/restore of whole platform, individual components, etc.
    • Easy HA/DR support/implementation.
    • Single/Common Console Operation Monitoring
    • Single/Common CD/CI
    • Single/Common Metadata/Linage for all components within an integrated platform.
    • Charge based on usage for all components within the platform, not the complex premium components, basic components, etc.

How do we ascertain the Fix-pack level currently installed? Why do each service, operator etc, have their own versions..

    Control plane 4.3.0
    Common Core Services 4.0.2
    Watson Knowledge Catalog 4.0.1

What does the above indicate?  The API https://cpd-cpd-instance.apps.thanos.cp.fyre.ibm.com/zen/#/versiondetails, does not seem to indicate other services installed in this cluster (for e.g DataStage)
