  • 1.  My Mac with SPSS v28 crosstabs and frequency option not showing in my descriptive analysis menu

    I am having an issue with my install on my Mac for SPSS 28.  It appears that the crosstabs and frequency option is not showing in my descriptive analysis menu or anywhere else.  I have the premium edition.


    My older version (v27) did.  Does anyone have any idea what is going on it appears that all options loaded in including custom tables which works but I need a more basic crosstab for large data sets.

    I'm not a Mac person, but I see that all the secondary menu items above Ratio are missing and some other items shown are in the wrong order.  If you can reset the options (there is a way on the Mac but I don't recall what it is), this might rebuild the menu correctly.

    I would expect that the missing commands do work in syntax, but it would be good to check that.

    Hi. Try this:

    1. Put the attached shell script on your desktop. In a terminal window, go there:

    cd ~/Desktop

    The script will need your home directory name (the part after /Users, or however $HOME is defined for you). On my machine, it is rick because $HOME for me is /Users/rick.

    2. Make sure SPSS 28 isn't running.

    3. Using sudo, run:

    sudo sh clean_spss.sh <name>. (That may ask for your password.)

    On mine, it's: sudo sh clean_spss.sh rick

    4. Re-start SPSS.

    Let's see if that takes care of it.
