    Happy Friday!

Manning just launched a new liveProject:

NLP Entity Linking for Medical Transcripts

In this liveProject, you're a data scientist at a healthcare provider that deals with large volumes of incoming text. Your task is to analyze a large dataset containing medical transcriptions. Leveraging technologies including pandas, the IBM Project Debater API, and Seaborn, you'll explore a Kaggle dataset, segment text data into known categories, and extract key points.

You'll finish by building an interactive data visualization dashboard for analysis in the open-source framework Streamlit. When you're done, you'll have leveled up your NLP toolbox with skills that are highly sought not only in healthcare but in law, customer support, market intelligence, media, and many other fields.

Check the website for more info, incl. learning goals and prerequisites: https://www.manning.com/liveproject/nlp-entity-linking

Instead of the usual $29.99 cost, this course is available for free, compliments of IBM.

Go and give it a try, and let us know in the comments below how you like it!

    Have a great weekend!

    Hi Tim,

I saw your post  in the Data Science Community Newsletter. This course is derived entirely from a piece of work that some colleagues and I did a few months back. There is a link to the repo, but no mention to our names or the fact that it's to say the least an adaptation of it. I question if partering with an external firm to create such a course instead of reaching out to us, IBMers and authors, or even giving us credit for our work, is the right way of promoting IBM technology, both internally and externally.

    Álvaro

Hi Alvaro, this course was developed in close collaboration with the Project Debater team. As a general rule, we don't name the IBM employees who develop products at IBM in any promotional activity. However, let me double check to make sure we didn't miss any attributions. Will get back to you shortly.
