  • 1.  Pivot table editor window and pivoting tray not visible

I am running SPSS Statistics v 27 under Windows 10 on a laptop with an external monitor attached.

When Windows Settings show the laptop screen as the main monitor, I can generate SPSS output containing a pivot table, double click on the pivot table to open it, and then see a pivot table editing window and a pivoting tray.

When Windows Settings show the external monitor as the main monitor, double clicking on a pivot table apparently still opens a pivot table editing window (it appears on the Windows task bar and can be closed from there), but the pivot table editing window and the pivot tray are not displayed either on the laptop screen or the external monitor.  The only way I have found to correct this is to use Windows Settings to change the laptop screen to be the main monitor.

This appears to be a bug that needs to be corrected.

I suspect that the problem is actually that the pivot table editor window is off screen.  Try this.
double click a pivot table.  Then press alt+spacebar.  You should see somewhere a little menu appear near an edge.  Use down arrow to highlight the Move iterm; then hold down the appropriate cursor key to move the window on screen.

I have two monitors with different resolutions, and I have V27, but I have only seen this problem when screen resolution is changed between invocations so that the remembered location is not visible.

Thanks @Jon Peck.  That worked exactly as described for the pivot table editing window.

The pivoting tray was a little harder because it is not a window and therefore does not become the active window when I double-click on a pivot table, but your general principle still applied.  I changed the main display to the laptop screen to make the pivoting tray visible, then moved it to a position near the top left of the main display (top left of the laptop screen).  Then when I change the main display to the external monitor and create a pivoting tray, it still appears near the top left of the main display (which is now the top left of the external monitor).

I see the system menu for the pivoting tray, but you might need to try using tab while it has the focus or even dragging with the mouse until it is visible after cursoring to the Move menu item.

    Anyway, glad that is solved.
