Recently, a new operating system - Macintosh OSX 10.11 El Capitan - was released by Apple. IBM SPSS Technical Support got questions if our current release IBM SPSS Statistics 23 is supported and compatible on the new Apple OSX. Our Development tested SPSS Statistics 23 on 10.11 and the answer is: yes.
Release SPSS 23 is compatible on 10.11 OSX with some pre-requisites you may have to check. Please find a detailed description of the pre-requisites on our
Technote 1970391

Hi Anita - SPSS Statistics 24 should work fine on El Capitan. Please contact SPSS support via the chat functions on the
Get Help
page to they can take a closer look at your issue.

I have SPSS 24 running on my Mac. Our entire office was just upgraded to Mac OSX 10.11.5 El Capitan. SPSS has stopped functioning. I can open a data file but when I got to delete unwanted cases from that file everything freezes. I know SPSS has always been slow in performing this particular function but it looks to me as though everything has frozen up. Are there any known tech issues between version 24 and El Capitan?

I was running SPSS 22 no problem, and then recently accepted an OS update on my macbook which installed El Capitan. Only to find out IBM does not support SPSS 22. I called technical assistance, and they simply told me to spend $2,000 for a new license for SPSS 23 which I cannot afford, as my version of SPSS 22 does not qualify for any technical assistance. I can't believe that after spending 2 grand on SPSS 22, I am not entitled to any support for SPSS 22 after an update to my mac OS that was recommended by apple. Buyers beware -- SPSS 22 does not work on EL CAPITAN. IBM refuses to support SPSS 22 on El CAPITAN.

Hi Melissa, if you are already on 10.11.x (El Capitan) and you have installed release IBM SPSS Statistics 23 already on this OSX then the maintenance upgrade to 10.11.3 will not harm your current SPSS installation.
If OSX 10.11.x is not your current OSX, and you use an older Apple Macintosh operating system, see below info:
SPSS Statistics 23 release is supported on Apple Macintosh OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) and 10.10. (Yosemite). Release 23 is also supported on Macintosh OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) , see also Technote 1507587
http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21507587
However, if you would like to install on El Capitan you may also refer to Technote 1970391
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21970391
regards, Bettina

I am looking at my updates and I have an Apple message to update my El Capitan to 10.11.3....I am terrified I will no longer have my SPSS. I bought a single license user and I can not get (nor afford) another license. Will my SPSS function if I update?
