Keith, We came up with another topic that we wanted to inquire about. The question is "how are others handling multiple archivists, say, 5 simultaneous server archivists on one Optim Archive Server?" Our team is expanding to include more archivists. Let's say for discussion sake, as many as 5 at ...

Keith, I'm in the planning phase of migrating all of our Optim Infrastructure to AWS. Is there any way that we can poll the group to see how many folks are in the process to migrate to cloud or are all ready there? This is not really a typical how-to forum question. Just a curiosity. Thanks, ----- ...

Donna, What happens when you export the *LOB straight from the source, using the Optim Classic Client GUI? CLOB's can have all kinds of data elements in them that 100% cannot be interacted with using just any DB client. In many cases you need an application layer to present the data back to a user. ...

Keith, Support and or "certification of support" for hosting Optim on cloud infrastructure. We are in the process of shifting and re-provisioning all of our infrastructure to AWS cloud hosted infrastructure. Note* this is public knowledge. While I realize that we could, in theory, put Optim on AWS ...

HI Donna, No tree expansion twisty. When an object is selected in the pane, it becomes expanded on the window to the right. I don't believe that there is a config setting to change this behavior to look like say... SQL server client, MS SQL Studio Management client. See the screen capture. Danny ...

Yes. http://querytool.com/features/tour4.html#lobs look at the features link. you can export *LOBs to files or view them right in the AQT tool. pretty handy. There's some cool export functions to script the exports as well. ------------------------------ Danny Lankford 3M - IT Manager ------------ ...

I'm a fan of AQT Advanced Query Tool. http://querytool.com/index.html It also comes in handy as a multi-database tool. JDBC/ODBC File DSN, Weird Direct Connect stuff, Etc. The v10 with extended features is awesome. ------------------------------ Danny Lankford 3M - IT Manager --------------------- ...

From a pure Optim settings perspective I would say start with these attached docs. Use them as reference. Experiment on non-prod systems. For what it's worth, you can modify some of the following configuration parameters shown below. I've found that we can significantly change the performance of Optim ...

Bump. I have the same question. I have been asked to prepare to move our infrastructure to cloud in the next 2 years. We've selected AWS as our vendor. @Peter Costigan Is this in the roadmap? Thanks for sharing Keith and yes, We've run into issues creating views of tables for archiving purposes. Unfortunately, in some cases, we had to create a new table, migrate data to the new table and "gently transform" the data types to play nice with Optim. While this isn't a good best practice, it does, ...

Thought i'd share just a wee-bit more detail on this from our experience because I wish someone would have done this for me.Our specific area of licenses usage is Datagrowth. For years I was unable to get a solid answer on this licensing situation with Optim. I know what I'm invoiced for and what we ...

Yes, we've run into this one and various other data types like BLOB, CLOB, IMAGE, MEDIA, etc.. from various databases. We have often found that the actual data inside one of the fields is not supported by the source database and would also throw errors if you try to query it directly from a DB client. ...

Arg, I think I figured it out. I could be wrong but through a time consuming process of multiple Optim connect installation scenarios (from an upgrade scenario versus a fresh install scenario) the ODBC, DB2, and Oracle providers are not available with a "Fresh" build 53 install. (Which was delivered ...

I have an open case for this issue but so far Optim support has no answer. Anybody else experience this? Take a look at the screen capture. Both laptops are Windows 10. Both are Optim Connect Studio 5.3.3 build 53. Both have the exact same Optim Connect license. Yet, the available data providers ...

Yes, data can be accessed via several methods once it has been archived to Optim no matter if it's relational or hierarchical . That's literally the purpose for archiving for retirement. Optim ODBC/JDBC drivers allow for pretty much any DB client to access the archives but you need a proxy like Optim ...

Which Optim connect ODBC/JDBC driver are you using? I would assume that you're using JDBC since DBViz prefers JDBC drivers. Can you query the archive file via Optim Connect Studio? What Data Source Type have you defined in Optim Connect Studio? Optim Connect ODBC Thin Client 2.5 or 3.5? OR Optim ...
